Unethical practices

When we first got sold we were told if we ever need to remove the panels and install them for roof replacement, the price was $500.00. Turns out I called in yesterday and things have changed, they want 1350.00 now. When I expressed my concerned I asked to talked to a manager, of course I was told the manager was not available, I asked for the managers manager and was told he would call me. That called never happened, another lie.

Fradulent sales pitch. I was told that I would save 20 - 30% on my electric bills. This was a lie. My total electric bills have increased 20-40% with Vivint Solar. When you call them you get a run around.

Don't buy from Vivint Solar

One of the things that were important to us was service AFTER the sale. Vivint says you must have a broadband connection because the system is being constantly monitored, and they will call YOU if there's an issue.

Our system was down for a week before I discovered it myself. Now they say it is our responsibility to manage our system! Also, the tech that came out said there are only TWO SERVICE TECHS for the entire state of Utah!

What happens the next time there's a hail storm?
They also say that everyone that comes to the home is a Vivint Employee and they don't sub-contract. Which means if there is a hail or wind storm, it will be months (or years!) until they can get around to fixing my system.
They misled us throughout the process.

Pros:
  • Top equipment and likely to be around for warranty issues
Cons:
  • Only 2 service techs for the entire state of utah

Preferred solution: I don't know how they can make this right unfortunately.

Leaking Solar Panels

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We have been working with the damage control team since last April and so far we have been in contact with them many times and now we seem to be getting somewhere. We hope to get this resolved in the near future IF they cooperate with us. Vivint is hard to believe that they let this go on for so long.

I want to know how I can get some satisfaction from Vivint Solar??? I had Solar panels put on my home around 12/12/19.. the problem is now I can't use my cook top without using a match to light it (gas) Plus they have a guy that works for them Marco Rosella that I thought was very nice but boy did I find out wrong.. he has property that belongs to me.. he's the one that did the electrical work and when I called him on his personal phone he said he didn't know what it was... all I know is now I have to light my cook top manually which I didn't have to before..also other issues that will take up to much time.. All I know is I will never give Vivint a good recommendation .. trying to get things resolved is like pulling teeth... Louise Harbison

Soybean Wiring In The Solar Panels

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Does Your Car Have Soy Based Wiring? February 10, 2017 - Rat King Dave Starting in the early 2000’s, car manufacturers began using bioplastics* (e.g. soy based wiring) in cars. They state their reasoning was in an effort to reduce dependency on petroleum and to “go-green.” In reality, bioplastics are cheaper to produce. *Note: For more information, see Bioplastics In Cars It is very common nowadays for newer cars to have wiring that is coated in soy based bioplastics. This has led to a surge of issues with wildlife, particularly rodents, being attracted to these wires for consumption. Now, not only are rodents attracted to the cars for shelter, but also for food. In researching this, I was blown away by the number of complaints on websites, articles and forums of people reporting rodent damage on their newer cars. To be honest, both of my cars that were attacked are newer (2015 Honda, $2,400+ in damages, and 2012 Hyundai, $9,300+ in damages). So, are you at risk? Does your car have soy based wiring? In order to help determine, there are class action lawsuits that were recently filed against Honda, Toyota, KIA, and Hyundai. Here is a list of each class action lawsuit (including some links to more information): Albert Heber vs. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. Janice Toler vs. Toyota Motor Corporation & Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. Daniel Dobbs et al. v. American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Tsvetelin Tsonev v. Kia Motors America Inc. Darla Campbell, Tristin Hibler, and Michael Leppert, et. al., v. Kia Motors America, Inc. Michelle Martinez v. Hyundai Motor America, Inc. From the lawsuits, we can gather that at least the following have soy based wiring: Toyota All 2012-**** model year Toyota vehicles 2011 Toyota 4Runner 2009-**** Toyota Camry 2010 Toyota Prius 2011 Toyota Prius C 2008-**** Toyota RAV4 2009-**** Toyota Tundra 2009 Toyota Highlander 2010 Toyota Venza Ltd. Honda All 2012-**** model year Honda vehicles KIA 2012-**** Kia Soul 2012-**** Sorrento 2012-**** Sedona 2012-**** Sportage 2012-**** Forte 2012-**** Cadenza 2012-**** Optima 2012-**** Rio Hyundai 2013-**** Veloster 2013-**** Accent 2013-**** Azera 2013-**** Elantra 2013-**** Equus 2013-**** Genesis Coupe 2013-**** Santa Fe 2013-**** Sonata 2013-**** Tuscon I have also seen numerous complaints that reference earlier makes and models than what is referenced above. Separately, I have seen reports of rodent damage due to soy based wiring on pretty much every large car manufacturer: Audi BMW Dodge Ford Hyundai Mazda Nissan Porsche GMC Chevrolet Kia …and I’m sure there’s many more To be frank, this is a HUGE ISSUE!! So to answer the question, “are you at risk?”, if your car is 2008 or newer, then YES! I think the evidence can’t be any more clear that if you own a newer car you need to take preventative action ASAP! If you are reading this article, I could imagine either you are dealing with this issue or you have a friend that has rodent damage to their car. Here is an excerpt from the Home page (w/ edits for mice) that will tell you exactly what I have done to fix this problem:

This week, Walmart announced it will be suing Tesla for fire damages caused by their solar panels. How Tesla reacts may give good reason to rethink the company's offers for home solar panels. We then took a look at Tesla’s revamped residential offerings as well as some others, including our pick for the best panels on the market. In other news, renewable energy use has increased 40-fold in the US within just one decade, a new study finds. To round the week out, we explored a new tool showing energy users how much their electric generation costs, depending on the resource it comes from. Burnt Tesla solar panels Destroyed Tesla solar panels. Image source: Techspot After seven of its stores' roofs caught on fire due to faulty panels, Walmart is looking to not only sue Tesla for millions, but to force the company to remove all panels, as well. Walmart began solarizing its stores under a contract with Tesla that started in 2012, and now they’re looking to pull the plug. Learn more here: What the Walmart solar panel fires tell us about solar safety... and about Tesla. It’s particularly bad timing for Tesla, which launched its latest effort to gain back rooftop solar customers on Aug 18. CEO Elon Musk announced that under the new program, you could rent a 3.8 kilowatt system on a roof for $50/month in six states. Read more about the program here: Is Tesla’s rent solar program worth it? We promise we’re not just writing about Tesla this week, but we can tie more into the company. Over the years, Tesla had used solar panels from numerous brands and Panasonic was one of those manufacturers. When it comes to the Walmart fires, poor training and insufficient installation and maintenance were the culprits; not the panels themselves.

Leaking Roof - House Damage - Mold

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

BEWARE! Roof leaking causing damage to house.

Communicated issues to Bobby Sanders on the Damage Resolution team. Bobby sent a team out to assess the roof, stating that the roof was leaking due to rotting leaves under the panels and stated that panel guards are offered for purchase; however, the sales rep never offered this option. My dad was not satisfied with his determination of the roof deteriorating due to the rotting leaves as the roof was flashed wrong, and pieces of the panel construction was not secure. Bobby sent another tech out and that tech stated that a lot of things were done wrong with the installation of the panels.

The tech confirmed that the flashings were flashed wrong and the panels should've never been placed to an double layered roof because of the additional weight of the panels. He stated that the grommets are not long enough to go through two layers of shingles. When the panels were installed the installers put multiple holes in the multiple flashings when only one Shocked hole should have been placed per flashing throughout the roof. To "remedy" this situation, Bobby sent the tech back out to patch the roof where it was leaking.

The patch job caused the roof to be uneven, patchy, and wavy; the roof continues to leak. The tech also changed a little bit of the insulation and cut out two pieces of plywood and patched it back up and put shingles over top. The trusses have mold on them. The house has no attic, and the roof is going to need to be removed and assessed to determine any mold growth since there are leaks throughout the entire house - this is a HEALTH HAZARD.

Bobby promised that there would be a roofing contracting coming out to assess the roof, and no one has came out to look at it or give an update. Bobby has been getting harder to get in contact with and is often "out sick", and has not been responding to emails.

The roof needs to be replaced, contract terminated, and panels removed from the property. The techs have them laying against the deck with wires exposed to the weather.

We had the same thing happen to us. We are still waiting for the roofing contractor to come out to access the damage to our roof.

It’s been almost 3 months they took off the panels on the sunny side of the roof. Still haven’t heard anything back from them.

So far we have had a roofing company come over to access the damage to our roof. We are still waiting for the report from the roofing company.

Vivint Solar has been very respondent for the damage to my Mom and Dads bedroom in which my Dad is bedridden.

We are still solarless Thanks Vivint for all your help in this matter. Respectfully

Well we had the roofing company fix the holes in our roof and ceilings. They're now saying that they will be reinstalling the solar panels next week.

Sounds like we are getting better together with Vivint Solar Company.

The biggest concern is the wiring that is made of sow bean and the squirrels and critters love to eat through the wiring. Good Luck to all
